Emma Wright. The buds of this rose are  a most attractive orange.  It has proved difficult enough to produce a one coloured Hybrid Tea in golden yellow, but it is even more so in orange.  The influence of the old China Rose is strongly in favour of mixed and changing colours. About this time we see the orange colours develop; McCredy's had this charming rose in 1918, its buds perfectly set against dark leaves, it's flowers unfortunately opening pale and semi-double.

W. C. Thorn. What's In A Name. Two famous roses raised by McGredys bear the name of members of the Morse family, between whom a close friendship had sprung up during the First World War. '....whilst 'Emma Wright' was the maiden name of the wife of Fred Morse. Sam McGredy's father used to call her Mrs. Emma Very Wright, but not always. This somehow got attached to the rose itself which was consistently very good indeed, but not always perfect.
