Book (1938) p107. John Poulsen, NZ. Roses in the South Island McGredy's Orange. An orange-coloured sport from Mrs. Sam McGredy, which has not been properly fixed, as it has sported back to that variety; nice bud colour, but fades far too quickly to be of any use here.
p121. Mr C. W. Heers. Roses in Queensland McGredy's Orange.— A good rich colour, somewhat like Mrs. Sam McGredy, but opening paler than that variety. Nice in early stage, but growth still to be proved.

The inside and base are deep Indian yellow without shading, outside bright orange, fkushed salmon. In all orther respects similar to Mrs. Sam McGredy, from which it is a "sport". Introduced 1936.
Book (1937) p112. R. Marion Hatton. An American Opinion of the World's New Roses McGredy's Orange has but 15 petals of orange changing to pink, and a sweet fragrance. The plant is good, but the flower not much.
p116. Allan A. Brundrett. A Victorian Review of the Season's Novelties. McGredy's Orange, H.T. (S. McGredy and Sons).— The colour is Indian yellow with a reverse of orange salmon. The general appearance is similar to Trigo, and the growth and substance of flower are similar to Mrs. S. McGredy. Promising as a very showy decorative.
