Rosa alba cymbaefolia ('Hemp-Leaved White Rose') Description... pure white, petals many-seriate, irregularly notched, those at the centre curled and crumpled... This is only a degeneration of Rosa alba, preserved by the nurseryman Flobert by grafting and presented to the Jardin des Plantes in Paris in 1810 by Le Pelletier as "R. cymbaefolia", the 'Boat-leaved Rose'. Some years ago we managed to obtain seedlings from our own plant and they reverted to R. alba...

‘A Feuilles de Chanvre’ /Rosa cannabina /Rosa x alba cimbaefolia Redouté (le rosier blanc à feuilles de chanvre) = Section Gallicanae – Rossiers blancs… Ses tiges, presque inermes, portent des feuilles longues et étroites... Leur couleur vert-gris accueille les petites fleurs blanches, semi-doubles et d’une forme indécise.

Alba Roses. 'À Feuilles de Chanvre' (Rosa cannabina). The Hemp-leaved rose. This is a very old form, having almost thornless stems and narrow, long, grey-green leaves supposedly like that of its namesake. The flowers are small, white, and semi-double. 3 feet or thereabouts.

Varieties not seen, but described by various authors. Feuilles de Chanvre (Hemp Leaved) Redoute. Flowers 2 in., semi-double, few stamens, styles 1/8 in. Pedicel and hip smooth. Calyx double bud. Leaves very long and narrow, quite distinct from all others.
