‘Blue Boy’ = Arbuste… fleurs pourpre violacé… Doubles, et plutôt grandes, elles éclosent avec un cœur turbiné qui se défait très vite en fouillis de pétales. Odorantes, elles s’épanouissent à profusion en début d’été, en longue floraison unique. Le feuillage vert clair, satiné, se laisse parfois gagné par l’oïdium... Produit inattendu, ‘Blue Boy’ en temps classé parmi les mousseux, est cultivé pour sa singularité plus que pour sa grâce. Kordes, Allemagne, 1958.

'Blue Boy'. Modern, Modern Shrub. Mauve. ....... This rose, despite the defects, is very interesting, because to obtain it the raiser crossed a bright pink Moss rose of 1877 with his own brash vermilion 'Independence' of 1951, with this extraordinary result. 'Blue Boy' was, in fact, initially classified as a Moss Rose and is grown more for curiosity and botanical interest than for its beauty. Zones 4-9. Kordes, Germany, 1958. Because it lacks moss, Kordes classified it as a centifolia... it can be startingly blue... the ninth edition of Modern Roses (1986) reclassified this rose from centifolia to shrub...
