'Sparkler' (POULcov, Kent) - Olesen, Denmark, a low growing compact shrub rose with a spreadliig habit densely covered in foliage and small white flowers. The flowers come in trusses are semi-double with a gold centre and are weather resistant. It is very aptly named as the whole effect is clean and sparkling. An ideal shrub to grow in perennial borders and containers as it flowers over a long period.

Book (1991) Page(s) 20. C.P. Horner, Awards to Rose Seedlings in Great Britain in 1990. A Gold Medal and the President's International Trophy were awarded to 'Kent'. POUlcov, a Ground Cover Shrub by Poulsen, from Denmark. This followed the Trial Ground Certificate which it won a year earlier. Although classified as a Ground Cover rose 'Kent' does not have the low spreading habit of many of its class. It is more upright, growing to two feet plus in height, with about a two foot spread. The flowers are white, moderately full, very free flowering with some scent. Unfortunately its parents are not revealed. In the public vote for the roses which give the visitors most pleasure, 'Kent' was placed 4th over all. Obviously it was highly acclaimed all round. It was my top rose.
Book (1990) Page(s) 22. E.F. Allen, Awards to Rose Seedlings in Great Britain in 1989. Kent, POUlcov (seedling x seedling) is a Ground cover, by Poulsen, with semi double white flowers which repeat well in late autumn. It has no scent but I rate it highly. Trial Ground Certificate to second year seedling.
