Heart of Gold (MACyelkil) McGredy 1995; 'Solitaire' x 'Remember Me'; deep yellow blooms; 41 reports on 51 bushes; 1.5 metres; 7.6 rating. A tall growing healthy bush with bright flowers. The flowers move fairly quickly from exhibition to fully open and most reporters feel that is when the blooms are at their best - the petals have a good constitution and a frilly edge. Plenty of non-fading flowers during the season.

Heart of Gold (MACyelkil): McGredy 1995; 'Solitaire' x 'Remember Me'; deep yellow; 10 reports on 13 bushes; 2-4 years; 1.7 metres; 7.5 rating. Any rose with 'Freude' as an ancestor seems to grow tall, and this is no exception. Gisborne says very vigorous with vibrant flowers. Northland has long shoots and lovely flowers, but they don't travel well. North Otago felt the summer blooms blow quickly. Otorohanga would like to see the flowers a little bigger and a quicker repeat. Another North Otago grower loves the tall healthy rose with its nice colour. Bay of Plenty felt the bush may be too tall and the flowers a little small for a HT. Franklin likes its good repeat and health, but feels the roses are best in the spring. Waikato likes the lovely wavy petals, especially when fully open. Northland says it grows tall, has lovely colour and makes a good fully open bloom. Has won them several prizes, so they have bought another bush.

Heart of Gold (MACyelkil) 'Solitaire' x 'Remember Me'; deep yellow; 7 reports on 8 bushes; 1-4 years; 1.6 metres; 7.5 rating. Generally good reports on this rose from throughout the country with the exception of North Otago who felt that although the bush was healthy the blooms blew quickly and that there were better yellows. Central Otago says the good colour and frilly blooms make good fully open blooms for the show. Napier says it is strong and healthy and always in bloom but it has lots of thorns. Te Awamutu says it is healthy with attractive foliage, is non-fading with frilly blooms and is spectacular in the garden. Northland finds the bushes are not overly vigorous but it makes a beautiful fully open bloom in the spring. Gisborne just says lovely. Most seem to like this rose with its deep yellow blooms.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1997-098 Season. Hybrid Teas. Heart of Gold (MACyelkil); 'Solitaire' x 'Remember Me'; deep yellow; 7 reports on 8 plants; 1-3 years; 1.3 metres; 7.3 rating. The rating has fallen a little on this newish deep yellow rose, most of the reports are happy with the colour, but find the flowers blow very quickly and the growth of the plants are rather variable. North Otago says it is healthy, flowers open quickly, thinks there are better yellows. Waikato has found it has not responded well to the dry weather. Northland says the flowers are best in the spring, makes long canes and good full opens. Bay of Plenty finds the growth rather straggly but the colour holds good. Another report from North Otago says the colour is exquisite, plant healthy and the repeat is quick. Rather variable results.
