Book (Jul 1998) Page(s) 229. Ledonneau-Leblanc Before 1843....We mention this variety here as it figures in the collection of the Sangerhausen rosarium, in Germany. We have only found it in the catalogues of Van Houtte in 1843 and 1844, where it is not classified as a Gallica, but as "Provence". Besides, the Nomenclature of Simon et Cochet (1906, no. 574) states "white and pink", while the Catalogue of Sangerhausen describes it purely and simply with "white". The specimen which is found at Sangerhausen - the only one in a public collection - produces a purple bloom which does not coprrespond at all to these descriptions. It is thus to be feared that thsi variety is extinct.
