'Cherryade' received a Trial Ground Certificate in 1961 from the National Rose Society of Great Britain. Rose Annual, 1962, p.159 "Habit of growth tall and branching with plentiful mid-green foliage...blooms large and full (40 petals) 4 inches across when open...colour carmine"
This a beautiful and floriforous rose. It is a pity it has been forgotten. It so far grows back in zone 5, and flowers but does not attain much height. It would be splendid in zones 6-8 I imagine. Should probably be grafted for zones 5-6. It also grew and bloomed well in zone 9, where some of the New Dawn progeny do not do so well. It is susceptible to BS in my yard.
In site rogersroses.com, there is a Shrub rose named ‘Cherrade’, deep pink, introduced by De Ruiter in 1961. I suppose it is the same rose than ‘Cherryade’ – listed as well in that site as a Large-flowered climber (same data).
