Gerard Williams. Final Analysis 1999-2000
'Kia Ora' (SUNcral); Schuurman 1994; 'Innocentie' x 'Firefly'; soft coral salmon; 31 reports on 52 bushes; 1.2 metres; 7.3 rating. All the reporters love the soft colour. Some feel that it would be more accurately described as a floribunda and that it makes a lovely small stem; some also say it makes a good decorative when disbudded. It is not a robust rose, but it does not have many thorns, it has a strong perfume and the blooms last well when cut.

Gerard Williams. Review of the Newer Roses for the 1998-1999 Season.
'Kiaora' (SUNcral); Schuurman 1994; 'Innocentie' x 'Firefly'; soft coral salmon; 3 reports on 11 bushes this year; 3 years; 1.2 metres; 7.1 rating. Not sure what is happening here with the rating dropping slightly each year. There have not been a great number of reports and it would seem that the rose is not widely grown. North Harbour say the colour of the bloom is lovely but the plant lacks a bit of get up and go. Southland says narrow upright growth. Lovely colour, not many thorns and produces a few nice decorative blooms. Marlborough likes the lovely pearl colour but finds the blooms droop. Kaitaia says the colour is fabulous and great shaped but small blooms. Good repeat. Northland says it should be a floribunda. Has strong perfume and makes a nice garden rose. We await a few more reports but it would seem the bush is not robust but most like the colour and the perfume.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1997-98 Season
'Kia Ora' (SUNcral); Schuurman 1994; 'Innocentie' x 'Firefly'; soft coral salmon; '6 reports on 8 bushes; 1-4 years; 1.1 metres; 7.3 rating. Fewer reports this year and the rating is down. Most reports find the plant lacks a bit of get up and go and there are few flowers with a slow repeat. North Harbour says the colour is lovely, growth weak and repeat slow. Northland thinks it should be a floribunda, good garden rose and there is a powerful fragrance. Southland says excellent colour, can show as a decorative bloom. Kaitaia says plant puny but colour good, blooms small, some dieback. North Otago says it cuts well, good perfume. The colour is obviously the main attribute on a less than robust plant.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1996-97 Season.
'Kia Ora' (SUNcral); Schuurman 1994. 'Innocentie' x 'Firefly'; soft coral salmon; 10 reports on 11 bushes; 1-3 years; 1.1 metres; 7.5 rating. Some rave reviews others not so sure, Hutt Valley nice colour and form, disappointing growth so far. One report from Kaitaia likes the colour and shape of blooms. Another from the same area says it has not done much to date, mites love it. A report from Otago thinks nigh on perfect! Marlborough finds it hangs its head and gave way, lovely colour. Manawatu finds it pleasing, free flowering, good health, and states clustering seems its natural bent. Northland agrees with this and says it should be a floribunda. To sum up, all agree lovely colour, growth variable and stems short, perhaps not as robust as it might be.

'Kia Ora' (SUNcral); Schuurman 1994; 'Innocentie' x 'Firefly'; soft coral salmon; 9 reports on 13 bushes; 1-2 years; I metre; 7.8 rating. The first reports in on this delicate coloured HT. Most of the reports find the plants are a bit weak and could grow better. A Franklin report says the breeder labels it as a patio, small growing, some b1ackspot and quite good in the garden. Madborough likes the pretty shade of pink, but says the stems are short and it is a slow grower. Some think it may make a decorative bloom in the future; we will wait and see.
