Book (1999) Page(s) 93. Gerard Williams. Review of the Newer Roses for the 1998-1999 Season. 'Manaia' (SUNmani) Schuurman 1994; apricot to orange flowers; 2 reports on 2 bushes 1-2 years; 1. 5 metres; 6.7 interim rating. Only two reports on this new rose which is a spreading healthy bush with blue/green foliage and of medium height. Bay of Plenty says still getting established but the blooms are promising, although not many at this stage. Kaitaia says the blooms are pink to orange and that they are plentiful and shapely. Their bush has reasonable health. Although the reporters do not mention perfume the bush should have light fragrance.

Only two reports received so far one from Bay of Plenty, where it has been found to be prone to powdery mildew and the blooms a little on the small side and spot with the rain. Kaitaia is more enthusiastic about the glowing apricot orange blooms, plant is healthy and there are plenty of flowers. We need more reports next year.
