Medallion - a 1973 AARS Award Winner - One of the most exciting, distinctive new roses ever seen!  Shapely pointed buds 2 to 3-inches long are a delicate shade of apricot buff, changing to light apricot-pink in cool fall weather. Buds open into 7 to 8-inch blooms formed by up to 35 broad petals of lighter apricot pink.  The delicate colouring varies in intensity with the weather… but is always a pleasing pastel shade  - never harsh. Blooms are subtly scented with a mild fruity fragrance. The plant is vigorous - reaching 4 to 6 feet tall, with erect, well-branched habit.  In J and P's test gardens it produces huge quantities of blooms, almost always borne on a single stem 12 to 18-inches in length. Excellent oval-shaped foliage is light green, with good resistance to disease. The most recent addition to a distinguished family of roses 'Medallion's ancestry includes famous 'South Seas' and AARS winner 'King's Ransom'.  This outstanding new hybrid tea was hybridized by William Warriner, Director of Research for Jackson and Perkins.

Medallion HT (IIIA) ab (Wm. A. Warriner; int Jackson & Perkins '73). 'South Seas' x 'King's Ransom'.  Very large, long pointed, light apricot, double, open blooms borne singly on long stems. Good lasting quality. Moderate, fruity fragrance. Abundant amount of normal green, leathery, large foliage. Few thorns. Very vigorous, upright, well-branched, 5 ft. growth. Profuse blooming. Freezes to mulch.
