Horticultural Horizons: Plant Breeding and Introduction at Dropmore, Manitoba (1967) Frank Leith Skinner Page 103 "John McNab," first listed in 1932, is a hybrid between Rosa rugosa and R. beggeriana, the latter being from central Asia. It is a hardy shrub growing about four feet tall with an abundance of shapely pink flowers in June, and recurrent bloom throughout the summer. “Mrs. John McNab” is of the same breeding as “John McNab,” with the same growth habit, but the flowers are white, though occasionally a flower will be found with just the faintest touch of pale pink.
"John McNab 1940 Rugosa x R. Beggeriana. The flowers are double pink & produced in quantity during July & occasionally throughout the balance of the summer. Large, very thorny plant. 6 feet."

Thank you Margit. You have done, and shared with HelpMeFind, so much research over the years. I would love to put your many comments quoting the source, into the references. They certainly belong there. (Admin - is there one place in references for items such as these below, or do I have to open a separate Miscellaneous Article for each one?)

Margit - you have often shared pieces from.... Percy Wright Autobiography. This needs to be a designated reference. Please give me the correct name and date of this publication and I'll take it from there.
Patricia I should be able to find the proper Archive references from the various institutions. I think there is only four possibilities.
The Percy Wright material is at the University of Saskatchewan and his Autobiography which was housed at the Devonian Botantic Garden is now also there. The autobiography was never published. There is 9 linear feet of documents. I expect to be adding more notes to HMF from this source.
Dr. Frank L. Skinner's papers are at the Provincial Archives of Manitoba.
The Georges Bugnet papers are at the University St. Jean which is part of the University of Alberta. A larger more complete set is located in the Province of Alberta, Archives
I still possess my father's papers but will be placing them with the Province of Alberta Archives as well.
Let me look around and see if I can locate the official Archive references.
