Editor [?] 'Summer Queen' (HT, white, Delforge 1966). sport of 'Queen Elizabeth'. The flowers are blush pink, almost white and with the plant, is almost identical to the parent, 'Queen Elizabeth', which is classified as a grandiflora, medium pink, bred by Lammerts in 1954 from 'Charlotte Armstrong' x 'Floradora'. Perhaps the reason it is not also classified as a Grandiflora has to do with the fact that Grandifloras were not recognised outside the USA in those days.

Stamens: anthers yellow, filaments pink
Stygmas: free, yellow
Calyx: cupped, smooth
Sepals: reflexed downward, with appendages
Foliage: length 15,5-17,5 cm, width 12,0-14,5 cm; colour of the upper surface olive green 137 A, reverse light olive green 147 B; slightly glossy; length of terminal leaf 4,2 cm, width 3,3 cm; obtuse base; 23 teeth per side
Note: good blooming, rapid and prolonged, suitable as cut flower

Summer Queen HT. A sport of 'Queen Elizabeth', but very similar to 'Shell Queen' which has been distributed in Australia for many years. The colour is very pale pink.

Très belles fleurs, joliment formées, parfois isolées ou en gros corymbes. Blanc ivoire pur avec un soupçon de rose clair au centre. La plante est extrêmement vigoureuse et d une flonbondité exceptionnelle. Tiges longues, peu épineuses. Excellent pour groupes, parterres et plates-bandes toujours fleuris. Parfumée.
