To the point: Excellent rose and excellent rose for the heat of Texas. If you're one that loves to cut roses and bring them inside, it may not be for you. But opposite of most HT's, it blooms enough that if you leave the blooms on the bush, it shows up great still. Excellent all-arounder. Great roses like this don't come around that often.

Wow. I bought this rose in large part because of members' comments here at HMF. What a winner. It blooms in HEAT, and by heat I mean the dry heat of West Texas, heat in the 90's and 100's. It is also simply a gorgeous rose, and very prolific.

My only complaint is that I can't find it for sale on its own roots. I prefer OR roses because they make it through the High Plain's February to May freeze/thaws much more easily than grafted roses. If my OR roses do die back to the ground, they come back from the roots--and the roots are true to type. They are just plain hardier--and they don't send up those annoying foreign root shoots. Please somebody let me know if this rose is ever available on its own roots.

This is a HT that does well in my 8b, very humid garden in Louisiana. It currently gets too much shade, but still blooms in strong flushes off and on and is easily 6 foot tall and very upright. I'm going to move it this winter to a spot that gets more sun. Very little black spot and no other problems to speak of.

Hello,

I just registered on your site yesterday and got the OK back for my ID and Password and today I am being denied access. I wrote both ID and password down before I did this and double checked both so I know I made no mistake. How do I get this corrected now??? I do not wish to change the ID name nor my password. You seem to be accepting my ID <CanDoGreen> but my password is now the problem. Let me know how to correct this since I do not want to change either.

Respectfully,

Robert C. Paul

RIO SAMBA was full of roses even on St Nicholas Day, Dec 6th here on the Calif.Coast. So it does tolerate fog well. It's 1st rose for 2009 opened on May 20th. It is a surprise rose, as the bud is deep yellow, trimmed in red, but it blooms a pinkish red, which holds the flowers for quite a long time. The plant is bushy at about 6ft tall.
