Bred by Gysbert Verbeek (Netherlands, before 1964).
Introduced in France by NIRP International in 1964 as 'Edith Piaf'.

Florists Rose, Hybrid Tea.  

Cerise, purple shading.  Mild fragrance.  45 to 60 petals.  Average diameter 4".  Large, very full (41+ petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Ovoid buds.  

Glossy, dark green foliage.  

USDA zone 7b and warmer.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .  

Edith Piaf was born Edith Giovanna Gassion in the Bellevue section of Paris 19 December 1915. She died 11 October 1963.
