Introduced in United Kingdom by Graham Stuart Thomas in 1962 as 'Sanguinea - in commerce as'.

Bloom:
Crimson, purple shading..  Mild fragrance.  5 petals.  Average diameter 2.5".  Small, single (4-8 petals), in small clusters bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Rounded buds.

Bushy, compact.  Glossy foliage.  

Height: 5' (150cm).  Width: 4' (120cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 7b through 10b.

Notes:
A group of similar crimson coloured single roses, which have been introduced at various times under different names.
The original 'Sanguinea' was double. See Rosa semperflorens sanguinea

Walter Branchi says Sanguinea has large, five-petalled flowers that are red shading to crimson as they mature...
The International Organization for Plant Information. does not list the name Rosa chinensis sanguinea
