Dawson’s Delight. Hybrid Tea. Bred by Dawson of Australia and introduced in 1978, this is a very distinctive rose. It is not freely available elsewhere. The color is mid pink with flushes and veinings of coral. There is an orange base to the petals that lights the flower. The blooms are high-centred, shapely and come on strong stems and they have a good fragrance. It is a good cut flower. (Parentage unknown). Zones 6-11.

Dawson’s Delight. Modern, large-flowered Hybrid Tea. Deep pink, repeat-flowering. This is one of George Dawson’s best roses. The strong healthy bush has large glossy deep green foliage that is very disease free. The flowers are large, to 5m (12 cm) across, and very full with 40-50 petals; they keep well both on the bush and when picked. They are a strong deep pink color with a hint of coral and have a good fragrance. Zones 5-11. Dawson, Australia, 1978. Parentage unknown.

Mr. Peter Munro, Lindisfarne, Tasmania. I have a friend named Dawson so planted ‘Dawson’s Delight’, as much for a talking point as anything. I just hope friend ‘Dawson’s Delight’ still is, as the one I planted was red. Obviously the incorrect variety.
