100F will crisp blooms on this rose, or considerably shrink them. It's still a great rose, but its not a tradition rose. Size is closer to a grandiflora, and while it is upright, it branches quite a bit. This is a good thing because it blooms frequently on these shorter, branching stems.

Color of apricot is on the yellow/gold size. There is no buff or coral found in it, in my experience. Even in hot weather, the color is brighter than other roses, even when they fade. Blooms are almost always flat and have various informal forms.

Health is above average. Only disease seems to be minor blackspot at the bottom.

Foliage and stems tend to be obvious from afar, in brighter green, dark green, and lime tones.

Welsh Gold reminds me of a large-flowered version of 'Prairie Sunrise', except without the buff tones.

Overall a good pick for a large-flowered decorative rose.

The description page says Welsh Gold has a strong fragrance, but doesn't say what specific kind of fragrance. Can anyone tell me?

Also, someone commented that Welsh Gold isn't especially prolific in blooms. Can anyone else tell me your experience with how prolific its blooms are (or aren't)? I'd especially like to know how it performs in a hot-dry-summers climate.

I have wondered if this was the seedling is related to the listed seedling for Easy Does It. Weeks probably asked for the parentage for Easy Does It, and Harkness could have just listed parents individuals so as to not give away the parents of this cultivar. Given the timeline and unusual traits, this is my conspiracy theory ;)
