R. Marion Hatton.  New Roses in America
Nicolas' Polar Bear was the only interesting white I saw. It is said to be a mixture of Rugosa, Nutkana and Polyantha. The plants are like hybrid perpetuals, the fully-double flowers are white with a faint blush. While it is a good garden Rose, its greatest value seems to be in its possibility as an ancestor; with that mixture of blood it should be able to do quite a lot of interesting begatting.
