Initially, I wanted to like this rose, but it didn't last long as it soon just sort of "fell apart".
Ugly, small, scentless blooms needing more petals and substance, and the foliage was small, dull, sparse, and the wrong color. It was never very healthy or vigorous growing.
In hindsight, I don't think I got the right rose from the supplier, and I am going to try and purchase another and try growing it again.
Spring 2007, I have ordered another Cheshire bareroot from Pickering and this time I am hoping to get the right one. I am going to start it in a pot so that I can have better control over it's initial growth and care. I hope this one does fare better and is at least vigorous enough to break dormancy and grow better thus producing better blooms. Much more like the pictures I have seen on Fryer's website and here on HMF. Wish me luck!!!

This was new to me Spring 2005 and the jury is still out. The plant was pretty vigorous but I was very disappointed with the blooms. They were very small and needs more petals and there wasn't much substance. The color is kind of washed out in appearance and there was no noticeable fragrance. The blooms looked nothing like the pics here on HMF. The foliage is small, sparse, and a very light green which adds to the washed out appearance. If it is hardy enough to survive the winter, the blooms must improve dramatically or I will have to replace this one with a different cultivar.

UPDATE: This rose didn't survive the very mild winter of 2005-2006 in my zone 5 climate.  I am very disappointed with this entire experience.  I am not convinced that I received the correct rose in the first place. I am almost tempted to re-order this one from a different nursery to see if there is a difference. The differences between the pictures of this rose and what was in my garden are striking.
