Origin:

Bred by Jean-Baptiste Paillet (France, 1855).
Introduced in Australia by William Taylor, Vice-Regal Nurseries in 1865 as 'Monsieur de Montigny'.

Class:

Hybrid Perpetual.

Bloom:

Deep pink, purple shading, ages to violet . Mild fragrance. Average diameter 3.5". Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Rounded buds.

Habit:

Armed with thorns / prickles. Light green foliage.

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
