"American Pride" is a sport of "Grillodale", which in turn is a sport of "Mme. Butterfly" and has been regarded by many horticulturalists, florists and societies as the queen of white roses, receiving many high awards. Color: Beautiful pure white when mature. Bud: Before opening, about two inches long and suffused with slight tint of pink, which adds to its beauty. Opens gradually and full into pure white. Flower: Large, about four and one-half inches across. About thirty-five very large petals. Pleasing fragrance and excellent lasting quality. Habit: Grows upright. Long and medium stout stems with very few thorns and an unusual number of large, leathery leaf branches of rich green color. A very prolific bloomer.
