The registration name is shown as Jadis in Modern Roses 12.

That is an error. Jackson & Perlins' Registration names have to start with JAC... We have 'Jadis' as a synonym.

No error. MR12 is correct. The rose was introduced by J&P about 1974, as 'Jadis'. You can find it in MR8. Code names were not used at the time so no code name was assigned. Later J&P reintroduced the rose as 'Fragrant Memory'. In an attempt to create a propriety position in a rose that was in the public domain, they trademarked the name 'Fragrant Memory' on March 14, 1995. This also required a generic name (I.e. code name) so the code name was assigned then. Apparently the effort was not successful because the trademark was abandoned and cancelled by the USPTO on Dec. 17, 2005.

Thank you for the clarification!

I've grown this rose for 18 years in zone 6a and have never protected it during the winter, with no problems (though I have lost other roses rated zone 7 or higher). It also blooms plentifully for me in the heat, as well as in a cool spring or fall. Add the lovely shape, color and fragrance, and this rose is just about perfect!

Pat at Roses Unlimited in SC has this. A wonderful rose for any climate. I've grown it on its own roots for about 7 years now.

I viewed this rose in the Portland Rose garden last year in July, after most all the other roses were finished with their best flush. This rose was the most outstanding of any pink hybrid tea there. The bush was gorgeous, and the fragrance was outstanding. Yet, I asked Rich Baer the rose expert about this bush and he said he didn't think it was that outstanding. Does anyone know of another bush that replaced it? If not, I plan to get it, since I thought it was one of the best pink HTs I've seen. (I also love prima ballerina - except for how it finishes :0)

Fragrant Memory is the most fragrant pink rose - it beats all others! Nothing can match it's strong, intoxicating fragrance and its hardiness is outstanding as well. Unfortunately, this rose is very difficult to find today. I'm currently searching for it and have not had any luck. If anyone knows where I can purchase it, please write me. Thanks!

The only fault I could find with Fragrant Memory is that the blooms blow pretty quickly, so it wasn't a very good vase rose. I still brought it in, as one bloom would fill an entire room with fragrance.

I have close to 30 of these. I love it! We have over 100 rose plants and this is the tops!
It just keeps on blooming
