Book (2002) Page(s) 60. Peter Elliott. Mrs Simpson has also generously allowed naming rights of roses she has bred to worthy organisations. Examples are 'Roseworld' to celebrate the World Rose Convention in Christchurch.
Book (2002) Page(s) 72. 'Roseworld' petals make beautiful Pot Pourri, as do many other varieties, particularly those with a strong fragrance. Dry the petals in the microwave or dry them inside in a cool place turning them often.
Book (1999) Page(s) 112. Gerard Williams. Final Analysis 1998-99. Hybrid Teas. 'Rose World' (SIMilam); Simpson 1994; 'Sir Harry Pilkington' x 'Mme G Dalhard'; medium to dark red; 25 reports on 64 bushes; 4-5 years; 1.3 metres; 7.4 rating. A rose not perhaps as widely grown as we might expect, most reporters find it useful especially for picking and for vase arrangements. Those expecting an exhibition size bloom may be disappointed for the blooms for most are on the smaller size but they do have consistently good shape and last well in water. The blooms are mostly one to a stem and the stems don't have many thorns. The flowers suffer little fading and one grower says her bush makes a lovely splash of colour in the garden.
Book (1998) p46. Peter Elliott. Trial Ground Report 1995-97. Trial No. 27. No. 95.3003. 65.7 Points. HT. 'Roseworld' (SIMilam). Simpson. Agent: Ford. red.
p96 Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1997-98 Season. 'Roseworld' (SIMilam); Simpson 1994; 'Sir Harry Pilkington' x 'Mme G Delbard'; medium to dark red; 8 reports on 19 bushes; 3-7 years; 1.2 metres; 7.5 rating. Further reports on this red HT released for Canterbury's Roseworld. It has not been grown widely, but those that do find it a useful rose especially as a picking and vase rose. The colour holds well both in the garden or when picked. Blooms are on the small side, exhibition type although a little too flat, medium to deep red in colour. The blooms come mainly single on long straight stems with few thorns, health is usually good and the habit is upright. Marlborough probably sums it up well by saying 'it has not reached the heights originally expected'. Enjoys a warm position in which to grow and improves the bloom quality.
Book (1997) Page(s) 93. Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1996-97 Season. 'Roseworld' (SIMilam); Simpson 1994; 'Sir Harry Pilkington' x 'Mme G Delbard'; medium to dark red; 9 reports on 22 bushes; 1-4 years; 1.4 metres; 7.4 rating. Better reports this year from a much wider arc. The general consensus seems to be that the blooms are a bit on the small side and too flat, colour is excellent and it holds it.s colour and form a long time. Franklin says it is an excellent picking and vase rose, little perfume, repeats well with good long stems with few thorns, blooms a bit flat. Marlborough reports brilliant at times, healthy, blooms a bit flat. Taupo lovely colour, weak in the head, short stems, not many blooms. Feilding excellent flower and bush, Manawatu upright tidy habit, dark green foliage, healthy, medium to dark red in colour, blooms smallish and sometimes a bit flat, good picking and keeping rose and shows a lot of promise. Central Otago is diappointed in it - too flat. Auckland says blooms too small and black on tips. Another from Manawatu likes it in the garden, always in flower and blooms last well retaining their red colour long past spent stage, great for picking, very long stems, few thorns and last well in the vase. Best when the weather is hot.
Book (1996) Page(s) 93. Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1995-96 Season. 'Roseworld' (SIMilam); Simpson 1994; 'Sir Harry Pilkington' x 'Mme G Delbard'; medium to dark red; 5 reports on 12 bushes; 1-2 years; 1.3 metres; 7.7 rating. The rose donated for the World Rose Convention in Christchurch in 1994 and the first reports in on it. An upright growth habit with the velvety red blooms borne on long strong stems, health problems are few and the blooms last extremely well when picked. Not many reports, but all are favourable. From Marlborough healthy plant, good shaped exhibition, bloom a bit flat, free flowering. From Franklin deep red exhibition opening and holding both colour and form, long stems with well balanced dark green foliage, could make an excellent vase rose as it lasts well when picked, very healthy and good repeat. From Manawatu good red colour which does not fade or discolour, long picking stems, lasts well and few thorns. Can show it as an exhibition but bloom a bit flat like 'Paddy Stephens' and 'Solitaire'.
