After a hard and late winter, all roses in the garden are producing lots and lots of lateral shoots and many buds now. They are serious about it this year (after a disappointing last year when a false spring in January followed by a harsh frost in February hurt them all badly). The first rose to actually open, with three flowers on a single rainy morning today, is Glory of Edzell, planted in October 2012 barerooted, with nothing above ground higher than half an inch, and now it's blooming; there are many more buds. Impressive vitality, this rose.
