The pink seems to have a satin hue about it, quite silky.....I like how the mass of stamens offers a central golden halo effect against the silky pink tones of the petals.

Unique to be sure.

As you know this combination shouldn't have resulted in a repeat flowering seedling.

MORsoucrest is another example.

Repeat flowering F1 seedlings derived from species can be quite useful.

Is you R. soulieana the same clone as Moore's? If so, it may be carrying a silent single repeat gene from some source...whatever the case, I am sure it is a welcome thing?!

I believe these kinds of seedlings are likely the result of uneven meiosis.

They are very welcome. Rose history is riddled with examples. I've created a few myself.

I don't grow R. soulieana. It's quite a large growing species.

I have Ralph Moore's clone of soulieana, and I have also obtained repeat blooming seedlings from it. Perhaps its actually a hybrid. I don't know anything about how/where Ralph got this plant.

I was not successful getting MORsoul to set hips but the pollen has some fertility.

Does 'String of Pearls' have the cinnamon scent of its specie parent?
