You need a dry warm spring for this rose to perform well, as its buds tend to ball before opening in damp weather. When the blooms are perfect, they are gorgeous. Most years they are less than perfect and I've actually considered shovel pruning this rose. If you are in a more hot dry climate, this would not be an issue and don't hesitate to try it. I would say this rose is misclassified. It is not a rambler at all, or at least for me, but acts like a small climber. Would be good for people with limited space and had no room for roses that get 20 foot long canes. This has stayed at a manageable 8-10 foot range.
