R. x hibernica 1802. Rosa canina X R. pimpinellifolia. Mrs. Gore, in The Rose Fancier's Manual, 1838, mentions the "the environs of Belfast produce an insignificant shrub, known as the Rose Hibernica, for the discovery of which Mr. templeton received a premium of fifty guineas from the Botanical Society of Dublin, as being a new indigenous plant." ....a large bush with greysih leaves and cream-pink single flowers, leaning considerably toward R. canina...about 6 feet by 10 feet.
