Origin:

Bred by Hendrikus A. Verschuren Sr. (1844-1918) (Netherlands, 1918).
Introduced in France by Grandes Roseraies du Val de la Loire in 1919 as 'Hortulanus Budde'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1921 as 'Hortulanus Budde'.

Class:

Hybrid Tea, Pernetiana.

Bloom:

Carmine-red to orange-red, yellow undertones. Moderate, sweet fragrance. Large, semi-double to double bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Pointed buds.

Habit:

Bushy, well-branched.

Growing:

USDA zone 7b and warmer. Vigorous. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that. Requires spring freeze protection (see glossary - Spring freeze protection) .
