I had it for 2 years. It does repeat, but it is very lanky, and it mildews. From the same line, Rosarium Uetersen and Sympathie are far healthier, but RU is thorny, and Sympathie is very tall. Although it is hard to beat either for a wall of warm color.
This rose is new to me this year. I planted the band into a quart-sized pot; it's already sprouted a new cane but it also already has blackspot. Is this a bad sign? BS is a problem where I live because it's cool and very wet for such a long time but none of my established roses have BS yet. Does anyone have a comment about this roses disease resistance, and/or growing in in Zone 8b?
Hallo Esther, or other German speakers. Reply today from the Kordes team to a question from a Danish woman about whom the rose was named for:
Frau Ilse Krohn war die damalige Sekretärin und Büroleiterin von Herrn Reimer Kordes, das war in den 50 er Jahren. Er war anscheinend sehr beeindruckt und hat diese Rose nach ihr benannt. Beste Grüße
I've been growing Ilse Krohn Superior for many years in my zone 5 garden in Ithaca, NY. Even after the very harsh winter of 2004, I have never found tip dieback from the cold. I think it is the best disease resistant, cold hardy, repeat blooming, fragrant white climber.
