Dubourg was one of the revolutionaries of 1830 attempting to overthrow the Bourbons. He masqueraded in a fake General's uniform and went on to occupy the Paris mayor's office on July 29, 1830. After the monarchy fell, the title of General was bestowed on him on October 2, 1830.
