Early first season experience (Sydney Australia).

This is a stunning bicolour rose with mauve-pink outer and lighter inner petals. The fragrance is a moderately strong lovely rose scent. Petal count has been 40-42 petals this spring on a moderately large bloom of 10cm diameter. As a cut flower it is excellent, lasting 5d without any fussing. The plant is healthy and has good vigour with absolutely no black spot despite constant drizzle for a week and rains (ie high humidity). It has also tolerated high heat with reflected heat off nearby surfaces being in the extreme range on hot days. So far this is a wonderful rose.

No origin is listed.

'Alicia Courage' COUalice. was bred by Ray Courage in Australia.
Refer 'Australian Rose Annual' 2002, page 72 for pix, and 143 for description.

Alicia Courage Rose. Charlotte Elizabeth Rose. Joybells KORsob Rose

Are these roses available in Western Australia and suitable for pot growing for up to 2 years? Are they frost tolerant?

If they are available in W.A. could you please aadvise of as to which nurseries stock them.

Alicia Courage rose is available from Swiss Roses in Brookdale, W.A. (www.swissroses.com).    AS for its suitability for pots, etc, you had best consult the nursery.

Charlotte Elizabeth seems to be out of commerce as it is listed neither on this site nor in the CRL2006.

The only listing for Joybells would be in Germany and South Africa; the latter is Ludwig's roses: www.ludwigroses.co.za.

Good luck..JD

Dear James Delahunty.

Many thanks for your response to my query/s. I'll have to go to Swiss Roses when next I'm in Perth {with a lot of time  to spare as I'm a rose lover to a major degree}. I already have about 18 on my 1/8th acre property and plan to add about another 20 or so where the lawn used to be.

Sincerely Joy Robertson.
