According to this reference the HP Général Jacqueminot is a parent of this rose and not the hybrid china by Laffay as reported in HMF
The Old Rose Advisor:Updated, Enlarged, and Revised ..2001 page 520 La Nantaise (Boisselot/Cochet, 1885) trans., “The Lady from Nantes” Seedling of Général Jacqueminot (HP). “Vigorous, stocky, erect canes bearing medium sized, hooked thorns, and foliage of good size, dark green. The large flowers, regularly cupped, borne on a strong, upright stem, are quite full with large petals, intense red darkened by deeper refletions, especially at the end of the season, when it blooms nicely. The vigorous canes bear clusters of blossoms, while the branchlets bear solitary roses .. [S]eems to belong to the Jacqueminot group” [JR8/169]

Double checking. Is the date of Brent’s reference (JR8) 1884?

I think so. JR stands for Journal des roses, 8 likely for volume 8 (1884 which looks right) and 169 possibly the page. Unfortuntly I do not have the pdf of that volume to check.

Me neither. We’ll put the date of the rose back from 1885 to 1884. Thanks Bruna.
