We have backed off adding very similar synonyms used by individual nurseries unless the name has gained a common acceptance or is in use by multiple parties. There are a couple of reasons:
1. The new, much smarter HMF name search usually finds the desired rose if the name is reasonably close.
2. Some roses are collecting plethora of very similar synonyms and that can ultimately detract from the usefulness and efficiency of HMF.

Hmmm --- putting "first gold freelander" into the search field does not bring up any rose. Can you "teach" the search apparatus to ignore the word "freelander?" For what it's worth, I wish Palatine did not rename these roses also. I think they add "freelander" to a name when they think a rose is a good cutting rose and/or to indicate a florist rose, which is kind of the same idea.

Our understanding is "Freelander" stands for a series of roses from Kordes. To our knowledge, 'First Gold' and 'First Gold Freelander' always is the same rose and one could not expect to find Kordes offering find a non-Freelander version of 'First Gold'.

Well, that's true -- Freelander does denote a specific Kordes series of roses, namely those they consider to be good cut flowers. Just like Kordana and Fairy Tale are other series names they use, or that Palace, Parade and Courtyard are series names that Poulsen uses. But since Kordes is allowed to name their own varieties, and since Kordes uses the Freelander as part of the name of each such rose, seems only fair to respect that. See, http://kordes-rosen.com/ and open the "outdoor cutroses" menu and then the "hybrid teas" menu, and you will see about 20 such roses named something Freelander.
