Origin:
Bred by Henry H. Marshall (Canada, 1954).
Introduced in Canada by Agriculture Canada, Morden, Manitoba in circa 1962 as 'Assiniboine'.
Class:
Hybrid Suffulta, Shrub.  
Bloom:
Deep pink to red, yellow stamens.  Mild fragrance.  10 to 12 petals.  Average diameter 3".  Medium, semi-double (9-16 petals) bloom form.  Spring or summer flush with scattered later bloom.  
Habit:
Bushy, suckers on its own roots.  Glossy foliage.  7 leaflets.  

Height: 3' to 4' (90 to 120cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 3a and warmer.  Very hardy.  produces decorative hips.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to disease, susceptible to rust .

Notes:
hybrid of R. arkansana T. Porter var. suffulta (Greene) 'Cockerell' x 'Donald Prior'. MR 12 lists the cross in reverse, as ' Donald Prior' x R. arkansana - Erksine (pers. Corresp. To W. Schowalter 3/26/65) T. Porter is the botanist who coined the name R. arkansana. {Elliott/Pittao database}

In September 1998, the Montreal Botanical Garden (Le Jardin Botanique de Montreal) carried out a survey of its roses' resistance to black spot, powdery mildew and rust. This is one of the outstanding varieties which showed a 0% to 5% infection rate. The data were taken on well-established roses.
