Lavender Jade BENlav  Few miniatures have such a powerful fragrance as this attractive, perfectly shaped little rose. The pointed buds are silver-lilac & as the petals unfold, they reveal a deep lavender on the inside of the petals. Bushes grow well & carry long lasting, pickable blooms on long stems.

'Lavender Jade' (BENalav); Benardella 1987; 'Rise 'n Shine' x 'Laguna'; mauve blend; 20 reports on 38 plants; 1-7 years; 70cms; 7.8 rating. In recent years there have been many mauve miniatures released and this is one of the better ones although it has never been widely grown. The plants are strong and bushy with reasonable health although black spot and downy mildew can strike at times. The blooms are rather large but of excellent exhibition form. Well worth growing as the rating would suggest.

'Lavender Jade' (BENalav); Benardella 1987; 'Rise 'n Shine' x 'Laguna'; mauve blend; 8 reports on 17 plants; 3-4 years; 70cms; 7.8 rating. Better reports this year on this very good lavender mini-cum-patio.
All reporters cite the good exhibition form of the blooms, which can get rather large, especially when full out. A Manawatu grower considers it the best of the mauves to date; Bay of Plenty says it is vigorous, free flowering, blooms large patio size lavender with cream lights. It appears to be healthy. A Northland grower says it can get downy mildew at times.

'Lavender Jade (BENalav); Benardella 1987; mauve blend; 2 reports on 4 plants; 4 years; 6Ocms; no rating - too few reports. Only two reports again this year but I have included it as it seems to be a miniature that should be better known and grown. All reports that have been received to date give it a high rating for bloom quality, colour and exhibiting potential. It is attractive at all stages with good repeat and the colour is an appealing mauve blend. More reports are badly needed to get a true assessment on this rose.

'Lavender Jade' (BENalav); Benardella 1987;mauve blend; 3 reports on 5 plants; 1-3 years; 40cms; no rating - too few reports. Three reports only over two years and the rating given over 8 so it looks as though this mini should be grown and known more. The reports state it has good shaped blooms, nice colour, repeat good, makes good decorative, exhibition and full open blooms. More reports on this one badly needed.
