'Lady Moss' rose Reviews & Comments

Note to admin: please include Ralph's code number for 'Lady Moss', which is 18-70-9. This shows us that it was bred in 1970, and yet Ralph didn't authorize its release into commerce until 2005!

Can you tell us what the other parts of his code name numbers represent ?

Moore's code system works as follows: there are three sets of numbers separated by a hyphen. The first set of digits indicates the cross number, in the order that it was documented. The second number is an abbreviation of the year the cross was made (not the year the rose was introduced), and so in this case "70" means 1970. The third set of digits is an identification number given each individual seedling as it flowered and refers only to one individual. So, 'Lady Moss' is seedling number 9, from cross number 18 (indicating 'Fairy Moss' X 'Gabriel Noyelle') made in 1970.
