This rose couldn't have 'Souvenir de Pierre Notting' (germinated in 1895) as a pollen parent if it was bred in New Zealand in 1887. Perhaps the pollen parent is the HP 'Pierre Notting' (1863) and the references to SdPN are a typo.

Undoubtedly - and the HP 'Pierre Notting' (1863) was in Australia by 1866. It would have got to New Zealand not long after. Parentage changed from ‘Souvenir de Pierre Notting’ to ‘Pierre Notting’. Thank you HubertG.
