I've noticed a phenomena on Lupe's Buttons that I've not seen on other roses. Budeyes sometimes emerge some distance above where the leaf is attached. (See photo) This seems most common on outer leaves on a cane.
Note. The bottom 2 are budeyes, not prickles.
