Canes upright, armed with numerous large, strong, sharp, hooked thorns, foliage ample, stiff, slightly bullate; leaflets oblong, denticulate, dark green; bloom abundant, most often in clusters; the bud surrounded with foliaceous long, green, toothed sepals; sepals inserted at the tip of the calyx; mature calyx takes on the color of the flower; flowers large, full, perfectly imbricated, varying from pink to bright red, without the dark shades; very fragrant, fruit very elongated, resembling that of the Damask Perpetuals, from which this group was probably developed. ‘Jules Margottin’….and ‘Magna Charta.’
