Group F. ‘Jules Margottin’ Type. Bushes of unusual vigor without being ‘climbing’, very resistant to cold. Canes upright, armed with numerous large, strong, sharp, hooked thorns, foliage ample, stiff, slightly bullate; leaflets oblong, denticulate, dark green; bloom abundant, most often in clusters; the bud surrounded with foliaceous long, green, toothed sepals; sepals inserted at the tip of the calyx; mature calyx takes on the color of the flower; flowers large, full, perfectly imbricated, varying from pink to bright red, without the dark shades; very fragrant, fruit very elongated, resembling that of the Damask Perpetuals, from which this group was probably developed. ‘Jules Margottin’….and ‘Magna Charta.’
