Bred by Rudolf Geschwind (1829-1910) (Austria-Hungary (former), before 1866).
Introduced in France by Victor Verdier et fils in 1866 as 'Premier Essai'.
Introduced in Luxembourg by Soupert & Notting in 1866 as 'Premier Essai'.
Class:
Hybrid Roxburghii, Shrub.  
Bloom:
White, light pink shading, carmine-red center, ages to pink .  Medium to large, full (26-40 petals), scalloped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Climbing.  Leathery foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Vigorous.
