Hi! I'm buying Devotion (Amber Flush) for Fall planting in AZ. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had some experience in growing this rose as to its needs, i.e. Sun or Shade tolerant? Morning, Afternoon, or All-Day Sun? How big will it get? Is it VDR? Tks,

Devotion doesn't appear to have any special needs and should be treated as you would treat your other hybrid teas. While hybrid teas aren't what I'd call shade tolerant, those of us who live in the desert have to remember that our roses get far more exposure to sun than roses receive virtually anywhere else, both in terms of hours per day and number of sun days per year. So if you have a spot that gets good morning sun for five or six hours a day, that would be ideal. But full sun should also be OK, provided the rose gets plenty of water in the intensely hot desert summers. Of course that's true of all roses grown in the desert. In terms of height, it should be about average for a hybrid tea, and ultimate height will depend, to some extent, on how much you prefer to cut your roses back each year. I'd say five to six feet tall would be about right for Devotion. I'm not sure what you mean by "Is it VDR?" Are you referring to Verein Deutscher Rosenfreunde (the Union of German Friends of Roses)? This is an association of rosarians.
