'Marigold' rose References
Book (1961) Page(s) 14. Dr. A. S. Thomas. New Roses in Victoria Marigold had almost all blind shoots in the spring, it is a truly wonderful rose otherwise.
Book (1960) Page(s) 18. Dr. A. S. Thomas. New Varieties in Victoria. Marigold HT. (Lens 1955) A tremendously strong grower with light green stems and foliage. I wish that the stems were harder - soft, pithy growth appears to be prone to die-back, but, so far, this rose had not done so. Large, well-formed blooms in shades of gold, maize and yellow. It reminds me of the undeservedly overlooked 'Bayadere', but 'Marigold' has less pink flush and its form a little better. Scented.
Book (1959) Page(s) 14. Harry H. Hazlewood. Some New Roses for 1959. Marigold HT. (Lens 1957) Rich yellow, large fragrant exhibition blooms shading lighter at the edges. The growth is good and highly resistant to disease. This variety must not be confused with 'Maigold' sent out by Kordes in 1953 which is not a Hybrid Tea variety.
