....As the garden curator I am endeavouring to bring the garden back to its former glory and to replace roses which were planted as tributes to early settler families. All existing roses now have lovely new permanent markers, but over the years several roses have died and not been replaced.  I have managed to source most of the replacements in WA but one is evading me - Mevrouw Nathalie Nypels Leenders 1919 - a low growing polyantha with delicate shell pink blooms.....

'Else Poulsen' is rather prone to mildew and it is being replaced in several Trust gardens by the healthier and very vigorous polyantha rose 'Mevrouw Nathalie Nyepls' with flowers and foliage of very similar colouring...

Mevrouw Nathalie Nypels flowers all summer if the dead-heads are regularly removed and it seems disease-free. The bushes are pruned hard at the end of March, and given a good mulch of compost....
