Rosa abietina Grenier. (Rosaceae.) 43706. Rose hips from Jamaica Plain, Mass. Presented by the Arnold Arboretum and selected by Mr. H. C. Skeels and Dr. W. Van Fleet, of this Department. A shrub with slender, often climbing brown stems, becoming 10 feet high, and usually armed with straight prickles. The leaves are composed of 5 to 9 leaflets, which are dark green, and the bright yellow flowers occur singly or several at a time. The flowers are from 2 to 2 1/2 inches wide, and have a very unpleasant odor. The fruit is round. This rose is a native of western Asia.
