Don Heimbecker, the noted rosarian of Calgary, Alberta found this rose growing in a Hanna, Alberta cemetery. He obtained a propagule of it and grew it for many years at his home. It was his favourite rose and said he wanted it planted on his grave after he died. He is now deceased and it is my intention to do this for him. I identified this rose as 'Prairie Sweetheart' in the summer of 2007, since I noted the shrub's form and foliage was similar to 'Prairie Youth' and a brief record of this rose appears in an early 1970's Western Canadian Society for Horticulture Annual publication.
