His successes are quite satisfactory, especially in Riviera-roses; take for example his Contessa Caecilia Lurani, Fürstin Bülow, Wilhelm Hartmann, Prinzessin Viktoria von Battenberg, Zarina Alexandra, and foremost, his newest rose, King of Siam. I especially liked a very dark bluish black rose, a seedling of General Mac Arthur, which has not been named yet and not yet propagated, but gave me the impression that it could be play a great role next season on the Boulevards of Paris. The villa of Mr. Bräuer at the foot of Monte Solare near San Remo....

Translation: The pink Kaiserin of Mr. Paul Bräuer of San Remo was sent to me on November 29 in very beautiful blooms. The form is quite Kaiserin [Auguste Viktoria], the colour fine salmon-pink, with deeper undertones and reverse. This rose will again become a rose of rank, and we congratulate the breeder.
