This was taken 5-22-2012 in South Central Indiana—the same bush as in the other photos I've shared here. This illustrates one of three problems that I have with this rose that I otherwise love. The outer petals most often have some brown spots on them that mar their perfection. Another problem is that they bleach out quickly in the hot summer sun. But then they are against a west-facing wall, so It is probably too much to expect that they would not cook. The last is that they deteriorate quickly after a rain. But under the right conditions, I could gaze at their beauty and enjoy their lovely fragrance for a very long time. I think that their petals don't have a lot of substance, which is their problem, but that also adds to their beauty when the sun shines through them.

Example of the graceful petals arrangement of Desiree. Taken 5-18-2007 in South Central Indiana, where I used lived then. The bush was still going strong a year ago when we moved.

Desiree is a heart-melter! It is so delicately beautiful and fragrant. It is also a busy bloomer. This is growing on a west wall in south/central Indiana. The photo was taken 5-22-2012

Taken 5-15-2010 of the same plant as the other photos. It's pretty when freshly rained upon, but will quickly deteriorate.
