Hybrid Perpetual Rose "Edmund Wood"
We are grateful to find that our friend M. Verdier, the most celebrated Rose grower of France, has considered our establishment of sufficient importance to name one of his finest New Seedlings after our Mr. Edmund M. Wood. In  aspecial circular containing the names of his choicest New Varieties, he thus describes it: Edmund Wood; tree vigorous, with short reddish-green branches and numerous dark brown spines, leaves consisting of 3 to 5 leaflets oval, dark green; Flowers, large, full and perfect in form, growing in chorymbs of 6; color lively, bright cherry red, reverse of petals, carmine admirable. This variety is comprised in the series to which the silver gilt medal was awarded by the Paris Horticultural Society in May and June, 1875. Depending upon the correctness of this description and the well-known veracity of Mons. Verdier, we have arranged for the importation in quantity of this variety with all the others raised last year in Europe, and shall offer it to the public of the United States on and after May ist, at $2 each. Orders will be executed in strict pronty as they are received.

OUR NEW DESCRIPTIVE CATALOGUE, containing names and characters of all the best Roses, new and old, at present in cultivation, will be ready in a few days, and may be had on application.
