'Giovinezza' rose Description

Bloom:
Geranium-red, lighter edges, cream reverse. Upper side of petals geranium lacquer purplish more tenuous at the edges and the lower side cadmium yellow at the base degrading in purplish red towards the apex. Large, semi-double to double, borne mostly solitary, flat bloom form. Pointed buds.

Notes:
Born in 1909 as a universitary song called "Il Comitato" by Nino Oxilia and Giuseppe Blanc, "Giovinezza" (revised text in 1924 by Salvatore Gotta) became later a popular hymn of the Italian fascist party.
